Siddur Ha’Ari – Sha’arei Rachamim, with section two – Sha’arei Zion. [Thessaloniki, 1741]. Prayer book Kavanot Ha’Ari arranged by Kabbalist Rabbi Chaim HaKohen of Aram Zova (1560-1655), disciple of Rabbi Chaim Vital.
Dozens of glosses in Oriental square [Bukhara] handwriting, with Kabbalistic content [prayers, intentions, names of angels]. Majority cut off at margins.
Signatures “David ben Chefetz”, “David Melamed” – Rabbi David Melamed Chefetz (passed away in 1898), well-known teacher in Bukhara and pioneer immigrant from Bukhara to Eretz Israel, as stated by him in his book Birkat HaIlanot, which he printed in Jerusalem in 1871, in commemoration of his immigration to the Holy Land: “I have established my residence in the homeland of the Almighty, an act unprecedented by anybody from my native land, and I am the first to come from Bukhara with my family to reside in the Holy Land”; stamps of his son Rabbi “Yisrael Chaim Chefetz”, among founders of the Bukharim neighbourhood in Jerusalem.
Incomplete copy, contains leaves: 2-21, 23-78, 81-113, 116-146; 2-23 + leaf 56. Originally: [7], 146; 41, 40-56, [1] leaves. Condition of leaves varies; good-fair. Stains, wear, tears with damage to text. Damaged binding.
