Shalom Shwarzbard, printed photograph with a dedication on the back. Chicago, 1934 + issue of "Le Matin" (this morning) newspaper from Paris, 20.10.1927.
Shalom Shwarzbard (1886-1938) Parisian watchmaker and poet, shot on May 25 1926 Semion Petliora, head of Ukrainian army during First World War and responsible for many pogroms in the Ukraine during that period. This assassination came as a revenge for the pogroms in which, amongst others, the family of Shwarzbard was ,urdered. The trial of Shwarzbard was held in Paris and aroused responses all over the world, in the end Shwarzbard was found innocent. The attached newspaper is from the period of the opening of the trial.
Good condition. Stains of two pieces of paper-tape on the photograph. Ownership signature on the back.
