Seven utensils made with stone from the Dead Sea. Palestine, [late 19th or early 20th century].
Engraved bitumen stone ("Dead Sea stone"); sawn shell (mother of pearl).
Two boxes, two small bowls, a saucer, a pestle and mortar and an additional utensil engraved with vegetal and geometric motifs. On the lid of one of the boxes is a sawn shell (mother of pearl) decoration. Most of the utensils are engraved with the inscriptions "Dead Sea Stone" or "Stone from the Dead Sea" in English or French.
Size and condition vary. Wear. Fractures or missing pieces to four of the utensils.
