Seven letters signed by R. Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, dean of the Mir yeshiva. Mir (Poland, present day: Belarus), 1922-1936. Six letters in Hebrew and one in English.
The letters were typewritten or written by a scribe, and signed by the yeshiva dean. One letter bears his full signature: "E--- son of R. N.Tz. Finkel".
The letters are addressed to R. Yisrael Yaakov Yaffe, a rabbi in Manchester, and to the philanthropist R. Shlomo Steinberg. Letters of acknowledgement for donations and for the fundraising they arranged on behalf of the Mir yeshiva. The letters include many blessings, wishes for a good year and for the various festivals. R. Eliezer Yehuda describes in his letters the difficult financial straits of the yeshiva, and the hundreds of prominent Torah scholars studying there.
