Approx. 110 postcards depicting a pilgrimage to Palestine (presumably from Germany or Switzerland), including approx. 65 postcards depicting views, sites and residents in Palestine. Photographer: Fritz Engel, Flums (Switzerland), [ca. 1920s].
The postcards depict the journey of the pilgrims through France and Italy to Palestine on SS Sinia, Christian holy sites which they visited in Palestine and Palestinian views. Among the sights depicted: Jaffa, Nablus, Nazareth, Mount Tabor, churches in Jerusalem, Via Dolorosa, Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, the Temple Mount, Ein Karem, views from the railroad route to Jerusalem, the fields of the Jezreel Valley, the Jordan River, Jericho and several photographs of local residents.
A minority of the postcards belong to a different series by the same photographer.
