"Public-private" letter from Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Brooklyn, New York, 18 Kislev, 1967.

Typewritten on the Rebbe's official stationery, with his signature. A "public-private" letter (an identical letter sent to several individuals), apparently to R. Naftali Tzvi Gottlieb.

The letter was sent between the Chag HaGeulah of the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch, 10 Kislev, and the Chag HaGeulah of his father the Alter Rebbe, 19 Kislev [the letter was originally typewritten on 10 Kislev, the Chag HaGeulah of the Mitteler Rebbe, but it was sent a few days later, on 18 Kislev; at the top of the letter, the date is corrected in pen, and changes are made to dates in the text of the letter].

In his letter, the Rebbe offers the blessing: "May everyone strengthen themselves and improve… in study of Torah, performance of acts of kindness (and mitzvot in general) and in prayer service – illuminated with the aforementioned light of their Torah… to thereby bring closer the fulfillment of the purpose… the day of redemption of God and His children, the great and awesome day of the Lord, the day of our redemption by our righteous Mashiach, very soon".

The Rebbe closes his letter with a blessing of success on moving to a new residence, and with a blessing for Chag HaGeulah.

On the margins of the letter are references and sources for topics and ideas cited in the letter.
