Mishlei Shlomo – Proverbs, with Latin translation. Basel, [1520].
Hebrew and Latin, page opposite page.
Christian edition edited by Sebastian Munster. Colophon at the end: "This book was printed after much study in Basel, in the year 1520 to the saving of the world…" ("the saving of the world" refers to the birth of Christ). Attached to the end of some of the copies are [8] leaves with Christian prayers. In this copy, which was owned by Jews (possibly even initially distributed among Jews), these leaves were omitted, apparently already during the printing.
Ancient ownership inscriptions on the binding leaves [belongs to Avraham ben Ya'akov Sherlvil", various Yiddish inscriptions].
[84] leaves. 13 cm. Fair-good condition (varying condition of leaves). Spotting, worm damages. Tears on the title page (partially detached). Remnants of stamps. Contemporary parchment binding (with damage).
