Collection of letters and postcards handwritten by the historian and literature researcher Prof. Joseph Klausner (1874-1958). Klausner edited the journal "HaShelach" during the years 1903-1927 and some of the letters included in the lot are written on stationery or official postcards of the journal, concerning various literary matters.
The collection includes 10 letters, 3 postcards and an essay, all handwritten by Klausner, amongst them a letter to David Frieshman, Heidelberg, 1901 about publication of essays in the periodical "HaDor" edited by Frieshman. The letter also praises and criticizes the periodical. Three postcards dated 1912-1913 are to the writer Mordechai Ben-Ami. In one of the postcards Klausner describes his excitement about his forthcoming visit to Eretz Israel. Other items include letters to Dr. Ya'akov Nacht, to the poet Ephraim A. Lissitzky, Israel Meir Lask (about translations into English), Yitzchak Lamdan, editor of "Gilyonot", and more. Also included are a letter to Dr. Haim Bugrashov, about transferring the "HaShelach" editorial team to Eretz Israel, and about work in the "Hebrew Gymnasium" [Herzlia], and a
handwritten 6-age essay, with many corrections, concerning the "religious crisis in the State of Israel" as a reaction to Dr. Yesha'ayahu Leibovitz's book, "Torah U-Mitzvah Bazman HaZeh".
