An introduction to the Survey of Western Palestine, by Trelawney Saunders (1821-1910), a geographer, cartographer and a member of the Royal Geographical Society. The book was published at the initiative of the Palestine Exploration Fund and was intended to serve as an introduction and explanation to a large map of Palestine which the PEF published separately.
XIV, [1], 4-268 pp, 22 cm. Good condition. A few stains. Minor blemishes to binding.
The Palestine Exploration Fund started working in Palestine in the late 1860s. The mapping and survey of Palestine by the PEF lasted for some ten years, and is considered, among other projects of the fund, the forerunner of scientific research of Palestine.
