Advertisement for "The Optimists" and other plays which were performed during the months of May-June-July 1940, with the participation of Jewish actors, directors and singers who fled Germany when anti-Semitism intensified in the areas conquered by the Nazis. About one month after the booklet was published Holland was conquered by Germany. Amongst the Jewish actors (whose photographs appear on the cover): Kurt Gerron - murdered in Auschwitz; Lisl Frank and her husband Otto Aurich - Lisl Frank was murdered in the holocaust while Otto Aurich survived and returned to Amsterdam; Max Ehrlich - murdered in Aucshwitz, and other stage artists.
