Two volumes of issues of the Allgemeine Zeitung des Judentums [The General Newspaper of Judaism], edited by Ludwig Philippson. Leipzig, 1837-1838. German.
Volume I: issues 1-116 from the first year, May-December 1837. Volume II: issues 1-155 from the second year, January-December 1838 + issues of the literary supplement Homiletisches und Literarisches Beiblatt.
At the beginning of the first volume is a dedication signed in the hand of the periodical's founder and editor, Yehuda Ludwig Philippson, from 1838. Philippson (1811-1889) was a Reform Rabbi, writer and translator. His works include a German translation of the Bible.
Allgemeine Zeitung des Judentums, a Jewish-German periodical published from 1837 to 1922 and dedicated to subjects from the Jewish world, particularly German Jewry. The periodical's founder and editor in its first years, Ludwig Philippson, sought to deepen the Jews' historical knowledge about their own people and to address all of the fields relevant to the Jewish community. The weekly was published as a supplement to the daily paper "HaAm"; among the contributors to the weekly were leaders of the Zionist Movement in Russia as well as famous and central figures among its supporters. Works by leading Jewish authors in Russia were published in the literary section of the weekly.
* Enclosed is a single issue of the daily "HaAm" published in November 1917 featuring essays about the Balfour Declaration and an apology for ceasing the publication of the paper during the Communist Revolution and following confiscation of printing presses.

The paper "The Truth", edited by Shlomo Feingold, was published between the years 1910-1916, first in Jerusalem and later in Alexandria where Feingold moved during World War I.
The paper was published in English, Hebrew and French. Below the paper's title the following sentence was printed: "A weekly paper founded in Jerusalem 1910, temporarily published at Alexandria, Egypt". The publication of the paper was financed by Margaret Palmer, a wealthy British woman. Most articles in the paper were written by Feingold who signed under the pen name "Ketem Paz" and in English "Yaffez".
Shlomo Feingold (1865-1935), who converted to Christianity, was an entrepreneur, journalist and publisher, built several impressive buildings in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Tiberias and Afula and was the publisher of the paper "HaZvi" edited by Itamar Ben Avi; (the convert in S.Y. Agnon's book "Temol Shilshom" and the figure seen from a distance in the "Shell Lottery" photograph by Avraham Soskin).
