A classic work on the art of engraving, describing the process of making and printing engravings. The book had five editions, each containing different original prints.
1. Second edition, 1912. Without the original prints.
Good overall condition. New spine and endpapers.
2. Fifth edition, 1923. Contains four original prints by Hermann Struck (engraving), Oskar Kokoschka (lithograph), Max Lieberman (engraving) and Ernst Barlach (woodcut).
Fair-good condition. Body in good condition. Slight damp damage to binding and first and last leaves. The spine is torn and detached.

All five lithographs feature portraits of soldiers in uniform. Struck served in the German army during the First World War, and created several series of prints documenting soldiers, war prisoners, and the Jews of Eastern Europe.
