The issues contain notes, articles, stories, poems and translations by the best Jewish writers of the period, including: Shalom Asch, Mendele Mocher Sforim, Micha Josef Berdyczewski, Rachel Feigenberg, S. An-Sky, Bernard Gorin, Yehoash (nom de plume of Solomon Blumgarten), and others.

Di Idishe Velt, a literarish-gezelshaftlikhe manatshrift [The Jewish World, a literary-social monthly], issues 1-6 of the journal edited by B. Musicant. St. Petersburg: A. Meirowitz, 1912. Yiddish.
The first six issues (issues 1-4 and a double issue – 5-6) of the journal "Di Idishe Velt", one of most influential and important Yiddish journals prior to World War I.
The issues contain opinion columns and articles, literary criticism, poems, plays and stories, by the best Jewish writers and creators of the period, including: Shimon Dubnow, Shalom Asch, S. An-sky, Nathan Birenbaum, Saul Ginzburg, Y.L. Peretz, David Bergelson, and others.
The issues contain two illustrations by Ephraim Moses Lilien ("Di Hofnung" and "The Prophet Jeremiah"), two pictures of sculptures by Mark Antokolsky ("Spinoza" and "Ivan the Terrible") and portraits of Nahum Sokolow and Chaim Zelig Slonimski, and more.
The present issues were all printed in St. Petersburg. In January 1913, the journal's headquarters moved to Vilnius, where the journal was titled "Di Judishe Velt", edited by Shmuel Niger (Charney) and printed at Boris Klatzkin's publishing house "Vilner Farlag". In April 1915, as a new law prohibiting the printing of Yiddish journals was enacted, its publishing stopped. A final attempt to revive the journal was made in 1928, in Vilnius, and during the months April to December of that year, nine issues titled "Di Idishe Velt" appeared, edited by Nachman Meisel, Peretz Hirschbein and Israel Joshua Zinger.
Issues no. 3 and 4 contain the same text and the same pictures and illustrations, in a slightly different order (presumably, the issue was reprinted after being banned by the Russian government).
Five booklets, approx. 25 cm. Good condition. Stains and minor blemishes. Stamps. Trimmed margins (slightly affecting the text of several leaves). New bindings with gilt lettering to spine. All but one are without the original covers.

1. "Bameh Nivasha, includes four articles concerning ways for improving the economic situation of Russian Jews", by Ze'ev Wolf, son of Ya'akov Mendlin. St. Petersburg: G.P. Pines and Yesha'ayahu Zederboim Press, 1883.
The booklet contains four articles published in "HaMelitz" between the years 1879-1882. The author, Ze'ev Wolf Mendlin, encourages the establishing of associations and economic societies by Russian Jews. He criticizes the Jewish Enlightenment Movement for doing nothing to unite professionals.

The Society for the Promotion of Culture among the Jews of Russia was established in 1863 in St. Petersburg at the initiative of the Ginzburg family. The society focused on spreading general education and scientific knowledge among the Jews of Eastern Europe.

Both dictionaries were authored by Leon (Aryeh Dov) Mandelstam (1819-1889), a Jewish writer and intellectual, born in Žagarė (today, in Lithuania). Mandelstam studied at the University of Moscow and later at the University of St. Petersburg, becoming the first Jew to graduate from a Russian university. In 1846, he was appointed the official in charge of Jewish matters at the Russian Ministry of Education. In this role he was in charge of the reform in Jewish education, working to promote modern education among the Jews and introducing general education into educational institutions. He was responsible for establishing new Jewish schools on behalf of the state and authored numerous textbooks. In his last years, he lived in great poverty. When he died, no identifying documents were to be found on his person, and he was buried anonymously in a Christian cemetery. Later he was laid to rest at a Jewish cemetery.
Both books are bound in matching leather bindings.

Mounted unto Efalin paper, which allows for convenient rolling up, and housed in a matching cardboard case. A printed Hebrew inscription at the end of the text names the ritual scribe responsible for the calligraphy: "Manuscript by scribe Weissenberg."
Otto (Nathan) Geismar (1873-1957) was an art teacher at the Jewish community school in Berlin in the years 1904-36. In 1930, he was sent to Palestine on behalf of the community, and spent a number of months there. He emigrated to Brazil along with his wife in 1939. Following the Second World War, the couple moved to England.

Humorous Haggadah, featuring excerpts from the traditional Haggadah alongside comedic variations on the traditional text, reflecting the atmosphere experienced by members of the Scouts youth movement: "To all class counselors in the city, the ‘Tzurim' class's counselor is planting grass in [Kibbutz] Gonen"; "We were slaves to Naava in the ‘HaHoresh' Chapter, and she delivered us from there to [Kibbutz] Mishmar HaSharon. And her time expired, and she left for Holland and abandoned us." Noted at the bottom of the last page of the Haggadah: "Published with the generous assistance of the Youth and Pioneering Department of the Jewish Agency and the Scouts Secretariat, thank you. Transcript (mimeographed typescript) of "A Special Passover Seder," organized by the Prisoners of Zion movement from the Soviet Union. The seder took place in the lobby of Tel Aviv City Hall and was conducted by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau (then rabbi of Tel Aviv's northern neighborhoods). Participants included members and board members of the movement, Tel Aviv Mayor Shlomo Lahat, singer Ofira Gluska (who sang "O Zion, will you not ask after the welfare of your prisoners"), Yehezkel Pularevitch, Menahem Klionsky, Barbara Oberman, Yehoshua Gilboa, and others.
A year earlier, in 1973, a Passover seder in a similar vein was held out in the open in Malkhei Yisrael (today Yitzhak Rabin) Square, the plaza in front of City Hall, but rainy weather forced the ceremony indoors in 1974.
