Two booklets dealing with the promotion of education of the Jews of Russia and the improvement of their material situation. St. Petersburg, 1883-1885.
1. "Bameh Nivasha, includes four articles concerning ways for improving the economic situation of Russian Jews", by Ze'ev Wolf, son of Ya'akov Mendlin. St. Petersburg: G.P. Pines and Yesha'ayahu Zederboim Press, 1883.
The booklet contains four articles published in "HaMelitz" between the years 1879-1882. The author, Ze'ev Wolf Mendlin, encourages the establishing of associations and economic societies by Russian Jews. He criticizes the Jewish Enlightenment Movement for doing nothing to unite professionals.
48 pp. (i.e. 46. Mispagination). Approx. 21 cm. Stains. Small tears along the edges of several leaves. Tape on the margins of the title page. Bound in a new leather binding, without the original cover.

The Society for the Promotion of Culture among the Jews of Russia was established in 1863 in St. Petersburg at the initiative of the Ginzburg family. The society focused on spreading general education and scientific knowledge among the Jews of Eastern Europe.
XIV, 208 pp. + [1] (folding) plate, 22 cm. Good condition. Minor stains. Tape to edges of title page. Inked stamps to endpaper and title page. The edges of the folded plate have been taped so that it cannot be opened. New binding, without the original cover.
