Peretz Markish' first book of poems which ensured his position as one of the leading Yiddish poets in the USSR. The book contains illustrations and decorated titles by Joseph Tchaikov. The cover of the book and its title page were also illustrated by Tchaikov.
1-52, 59-163 + [3] leaves (table of contents and an advertising leaf for books published by "Yiddisher Falks-Farlag"). Three leaves (pp. 53-58) are missing. 21.5 cm. Good condition. Black and white illustrations for coloring, and worksheets for practicing reading and writing letters and words.

The instructions direct children to "pull slowly" or rotate the moving parts, thus revealing hidden elements of the pictures. Includes songs by composer Arno Nadel, who served as director of the Jewish Choir in Berlin. A large colorful print appears towards the end of the Haggadah, on a two-page spread, entitled "Next year in Jerusalem" (Hebrew). .
