Album with 28 photographs of the displays of an exhibition dedicated to the activity of "Aliyat HaNo'ar" (Youth Aliyah). [Palestine, 1945].
The photographs, mounted to the leaves of the album, depict various displays of the exhibition: posters, pictures, illustrations and diagrams documenting the activity and achievements of the "youth Aliyah" enterprise.
At the beginning of the album, a photograph of a sign announcing that the exhibition "was held at the time and on the initiative of Henrietta Szold on the tenth anniversary of the enterprise of Youth Aliyah on February 19, 1944. The exhibition opened on the day of the mourning conference in memory of Henrietta Szold. 28th of Adar 1945".
28 photographs" approx. 18x23.5 to 13x23 cm. The album is bound with a leather-covered binding, decorated, with a copper relief of Rachel's Tomb. Size of album: 30.5x19.5 cm (bound with string). Good overall condition. Minor blemishes.

Collection of photographs and negatives by Rudolf Jonas documenting a tree-planting ceremony on Tu BiShvat (the 15th of Shvat), attended by the Mayor of Haifa Shabtai Levi. [1950].
Twelve photographs, all stamped on verso with the photographer's stamp "Rudolf Jonas, Jerusalem": * A procession of school students walking to where the ceremony takes place. * Raising the flag. * The Mayor of Haifa Shabtai Levi planting the first tree. * And more.
Each photograph is accompanied by the original negative. The collection includes three additional negative, without their photographs.
Rudolf Jonas (1898-1972), studied law in Berlin and Marburg, where he got to know the Zionist Movement and under its influence, visited Palestine in the middle of the 1920s, documenting it with his camera. In 1933, he immigrated to Palestine, living in Jerusalem, where he worked as an amateur photographer on behalf of Keren HaYesod. After the War of Independence, he moved to Haifa where he continued working as a photographer.
12 photographs + 15 negatives, average size: 6x6 cm. Good overall condition.

Three postcards with group photographs of Jews:
1. "Jedenelend" [Jewish Suffering]. [Germany? ca. 1900-1901]. An undivided postcard depicting a photograph of a group of Romanian Jews around their friend's body, and their story (in German): the members of the group were arrested in the city of Jassy for loitering and were banished to the other side of the Turkish border; the Turkish refused to let them in and the soldiers of the Romanian border guard threw them in response into the Danube. The Turks drew them from the water, yet one of them drowned and another lost his mind.
On the upper part of the postcard, a quote by Petre Carp, the Romanian Prime Mister in the early 20th century, who supported equal rights for Jews: "We live in an era in which we can no longer throw Jews into the water".
2. "Russian Mizrachi Members - Russische Misrahi-Gruppe". Vienna: "Zion", [ca. 1902]. An undivided postcard depicting a group photograph of the participants of the Founding Conference of "HaMizrachi" Movement in Vilnius. Rabbi Yitzchak Ya'akov Reines is seen in the center.
3. "The 'Magen David' gymnasium and elementary school of Chisinau". Chisinau, Lag BaOmer 1922. A photographed postcard with a group photograph of the students of the gymnasium and school of the Haredi community of Chisinau. On verso of the postcard appears the stamp of the school.
Approx. 14x9 cm. Good overall condition. A few blemishes and stains, mainly on postcard no. 3.

During the years 1901-1932, Bolthausen organized approx. 86 tours from Germany to Palestine and the East. The postcards before us document the 9th, 10th, 11th and 20th tours.
