The newspaper reports that the ceremony ending the British Mandate was held already and that in just a few hours the State of Israel will be established. Most of the news concern the different battles all over the country and the central item on the back of the paper presents the postal stamps of the Jewish state.

Issue of "Turim Mechazit Kiryati", titled "The State of Israel was Established". Published by the Culture Department / Kiryati, [Tel Aviv], May 15, 1948.
Issue of the Kiryati brigade bulletin. The brigade operated in the area of Tel Aviv during the Independence War. This issue was published on the day following the declaration of independence. Printed on the first leaf is the declaration "The State of Israel was Established" on the background of the Israeli flag. On the bottom of the title page appears the slogan "Defense Forces in Eretz Israel – for Liberty! For Independence! For Victory!" (Hebrew). The issue includes texts by Zionist intellectuals, Alterman's poem "The Silver Tray" (Hebrew), government announcements and a short version of the Scroll of Independence. The last leaf includes news from the front, most of which refer to the surrender of Jaffa two days earlier, following Operation "Hametz" in which this brigade participated.
6 leaves (the issue might be lacking at the end), 33 cm. Fair condition. Detached leaves. Pinholes. Numerous stains. Slight tears and creases at margins and corners of leaves, most of which are professionally restored.

The issues contain an abundance of information regarding the emergency state in Israel and the initial organization of the various institutes of the nascent State of Israel. A thick divider separates the 1948 issues from the 1949 issues. A separate index was printed for each year and is bound before the year's issues.

Speech of Moshe Smoira, first president of the Israel Supreme Court, at the opening ceremony of the Supreme Court in Jerusalem on September 14, 1948.
6 typewritten leaves containing the full speech. Smoira spoke of the importance of the inauguration of the court and especially in the city of Jerusalem. He expounded upon the mission of the judicial system according to Jewish law, the separation of the various authorities and the task of the Supreme Court in relation to this separation, the relationship between the judges and the attorneys, etc.
6 leaves, size varies. Average size: 27.5 cm. Good condition. Folds to corners and margins. Few stains.
Enclosed is a handwritten leaf with the prayer "Hineni HeAni MiMa'as" (Behold, I am here impoverished in deeds) which the cantor chants on Yom Kippur. Smoira refers to this prayer in his speech, requesting that the judges do not misappropriate their authority as public emissaries.
