Portfolio with ten woodcuts by Paul Konrad Hoenich. Printed in 500 copies, from original plates. The portfolio is dedicated to "Our Soldiers" and the inscription on the front cover reads "A soldier peers into the night. He is softly singing a song 'David, King of Israel'. The song carries his thoughts back to David and Goliath, from thence to our struggle. His thoughts turn into pictures, the pictures of this book".
[3] leaves + ten woodcut plates, 36 cm. First leaves and plates are in good condition. Some creases, slight stains and small tears. Paper portfolio in fair condition - torn into two, with folding marks, creases, tears and stains.

The lithograph depicts Ferdinand Foch, a French WW I general and later the Marshal of France, Field marshal of Britain and Marshal of Poland, defender of Paris. Foch is depicted as a large porcupine-like figure with fingers resembling canons. The Eifel Tower appears on the right and Montmartre and "Basilique du Sacré-Cœur" on the left.
65X50 cm. Good-fair condition. Dampstains on upper left margin. Creases and folding marks. Tears at margins and folding lines.
2-3. In the Name of the Czar, 24 Original Pictures by Abel Pann. Published by The American Jewish Chronicle, [1918?]. English. Two copies. Lithographs by Abel Pann depicting the pogroms against Ukrainian Jews, titled in English. First English edition of the portfolio "The Tear Jug".
