A book about Amsterdam with 71 engravings, most of which depict the main buildings in the city – the City Hall, hospital, different churches, and more. Two of the engravings portray the Portuguese synagogue in Amsterdam (exterior and interior).
The engravings are spread on entire pages and are accompanied by texts in Dutch and French. Some engravings are signed in the plate by the artists – Jan Veenhuysen and S. Webbers.
[162] pp, 20X15.5 cm. Plain cardboard binding. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dampstains. Pinholes at inner margins of leaves. Tears, mostly small. Open tear to one leaf, affecting text and engraving, repaired with pasted paper. A long tear to another leaf, affecting text and engraving, repaired with a pasted strip of paper, on which some of the text appears in handwriting. Stains, tears and blemishes to binding. Bookplate on inside front binding.
