Manuscript- Diary of visit in Palestine with a commission of inquiry Jewish Education, Sir Leon Simon. Eretz Yisrael, 1945.
Handwritten diary, starting 8.10.45 ending in Haifa on 5.11.45. Writing was done once or twice a week concluding the committee's activitiy.
Sir Leon was the only Jewish member of a commission to inquire the Jewish education, that was active from the day the diary starts until February 1946; his was a minority opinion in support of education in Hebrew, as opposed to the committee's conclusions that high education in Eretz Yisrael should be taught in English.See attached material about Sir Leon Simon in the two following items.
The contents of the diary was never published and it is of major importance to the history of Jewish education in Eretz Yisrael.
15 pages written in pencil, in an office-use notepad (original+ copy), 21.5 cm. Good condition.
