Maharam Shick responsa, Yoreh Deah. Mukacheve, 1881. First edition. Various signatures and ownership inscriptions. At the beginning of the title page is a (cutoff) dedication signed by Rabbi "Avraham Yehoshua Fruend" who had given the book to his brother-in-law Rabbi Menachem Gotleib. Rebbe Avraham Yehoshua Freund Av Beit Din of Năsăud (1855-1932), disciple of the Maharam Shick and of the Yitav Lev. Son of Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Freund head of the Siget community in the time of the "Yitav Lev" and the "Kedushat Yom Tov". Son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Yehuda Lev Av Beit Din of Entradam. He served in the Równe rabbinate and from 1905 in the adjacent cities of Năsăud and Entradam. A devoted Chassid, he was accustomed to travelling to the author of the Divrei Chaim in Sanz. A holy man, he was an ascetic and very stringent in halachic and conduct practice. He became renowned as a wonder-worker and did not fear any person. His history and compilations of his sayings were printed in the books: Hadrat Kodesh (Satmar, 1942; Jerusalem, 1960) and Gedulat Yehoshua (NY, 1986-1989). His grandson and disciple is Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Friend (1904-1996), Ga'avad of the Eda HaCharedit in Jerusalem. [3], 144 leaves. 37.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Brittle paper, wear and tears.
