A collection of duplicated circular letters (typewritten), "Resolutions of the Provisional Government Sessions" (Hebrew). May 16, 1948 through March 6, 1949.
The collection includes about 90 circular letters, some consisting of several pages, detailing decisions concerning a wide range of issues related to the young State of Israel: election of Dr. Haim Weizmann as president of the Provisional State Council (nine to two votes), decisions as to a ceasefire, supervision of deserted property, unblocking the road to Jerusalem and paving of the Burma road, the IDF oath and decisions regarding enlistment and release of soldiers, the resolution taken during an unscheduled meeting as to the ship Altalena ("decided to request during negotiations with the UN to unload arms and deposit them with the UN until ceasefire ends…"), matters concerning Aliya, and more. The collection also includes circular letters of unscheduled meetings and some other letters: a circular letter regarding the demilitarization of Jerusalem (July 1948), emergency regulations concerning imprisonment of soldiers and repair of war damages to houses, legal explanation of income tax law, and more.
The Provisional Government was active from May 14, 1948 until March 10, 1949, and consisted of 13 members only. This collection was, most probably, compiled by one of its members.
34 cm. Fair-good condition. Ink-stamps. Tears at margins and stains. Folding marks. Significant wear and damages to first and last letters.
