"Shir im Haruzim veKetzev"/"BeSof kol Mishpat BeIvrit Yoshev Aravi im Nargila", original manuscripts, early version of the song "Shir "Ke'ev", by Meir Ariel. [mid-late 1970s].
"Shir Ke'ev" is the opening song of Meir Ariel's first album, "Shirey Chag Moed veNofel" (1978) and was the first single released for radio broadcast. The song tells the story of two men, an Arab and a Jew, competing for the love of a woman, from the perspective of the Jew. The final version contains insights and poetic verses that do not appear in the manuscript, which focuses on the love-triangle only.
An illustration of an Arab smoking a Nargila appears on the first manuscript, next to the title "Besof kol mishpat beIvrit yoshev aravi im Nargila". Additional illustrations by Meir Ariel on the margins of the leaves. The manuscript version is very different than the final version, including verses that appear here but were never sung.
The highlight of the manuscript is the ending of the song, where several versions appear, all different from the final one.
On the reverse of the second version, appears a draft of an additional song, "Shir mayim rabim written for Ariel Zilber". This version is totally different from the song "Shir mayim rabim" in the album "Modeh ani". [4], [4] leaves, 30cm. Good condition. Several stains.
