Three Share Warrants – "The Marine Trust Limited" – Port of Tel Aviv – Tel Aviv, 1937

Opening: $200
Sold for: $250
Including buyer's premium
Three share warrants, issued by "the Marine Trust Limited" ("Otzar Mif'alei Yam BeEravon Mogbal") Tel Aviv: "Eretz Israel." Given in 1937. Hebrew and English.
In April 1936, when the Arab Revolt broke out, the Jaffa Port went on strike and there was an increasing need for establishing a new port, which will serve the Yishuv. The British mandatory authorities gave their consent, but refused to finance the project. And so, the Marine Trust company was founded in order to construct the new Port of Tel-Aviv. Half of the company's shares were offered to the public, who bought them with a sense of participation in the Zionist enterprise.
The present lot includes three share warrants (consecutive numbers); each entitles the bearer thereof to one share of 1 Palestine Pound. All three certificates are intact, with the original dividend coupons. Share numbers and dates were filled-in by hand.
22X50.5 cm. Good condition. Creases. Minor stains. Some closed tears and minor open tears to edges.
