Manuscript, Machzor according to custom in Rome, for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Carmagnola, Italy. 1835-1837.
Machzor for the cantor, in large format. Eloquent Italian writing and square writing, with vowels. Prayers and Piyutim for Rosh Hashana with "Kavanot" of the Ari "for the time the shofar is blown". At the end of the Rosh Hashana prayers is the writer's colophon: "On Tuesday… of the month of Mercy (Tishrei), 1835, Shimshon Eliezer Baki who blows the shofar and serves the Carmagnola community".
At the end of the Ne'ila prayer are "verses which are recited in the city of Torino at the end of Yom Kippur after the Kaddish in the Italian Great Synagogue to conclude the great day of fasting with glory and honor, according to the custom in Mantua in 1835 by the council of Rabbi Hillel Baruch Shalom ben Moshe Cantoni…".
An empty leaf was left before some of the prayers, meant for a title page illustration. An illustrated title page appears before the Ne'ila prayer with the inscription: "Seder Tefillat Ne'ila – written in Carmagnola in 1837".
