Dec. 13th 1865. Handwritten on paper, presented as gift to Cantor Louis Lavandowsky, marking 50th anniversary of serving as cantor.
Louis (Eliezer) Lewendowski (1821-1894), cantor, choir conductor and composer of music for synagogues. Served as chazzan and choir conductor in the new Synagogue of Berlin. His works are considered until today fundamental to Jewish music, many great cantors were his disciples.
Many of Isidor's compositions have been publicized and are still sung today (also by Birenbaum), but this composition has never been publicized.
Manuscript without corrections, very pretty and clean. Contained in original velvet case with gold embossings, made by A. Littaner in Berlin. Inner binding is covered with cloth. Gold edging.
