An interesting letter signed by Rebbe Yitchak of Amshinov, New York, [1950-s].
In this letter, the Rebbe tells of his engagement in a second marriage [after he lost his wife and all his children in the Holocaust] "after all the tribulations that have happened to me until now, I notify you that thank G-d, I have become engaged…". He writes of his great longing to "live in Eretz Yisrael which is the land that Hashem seeks at all times and we should merit rejoicing together…".
Rebbe Yitzchak Kalisch son of Rebbe Yosef of Amshinov, escaped to Vilna during the Holocaust years and thereafter to Japan and Shanghai, together with his uncle Rebbe Shimon Shalom. From there he reached New York where he established his beit midrash and was one of the leading rebbes of Polish Chassidim in the US. He was an outstanding impressive figure in his love for his fellow Jews as passed down to him by his holy ancestors from Warka. Died in Adar 1993 and buried in Tiberias.
19 cm. Thin paper, typewritten, with his own handwritten corrections and signature. Good-fair condition, creases and foxing.
