Rabbi Ya’akov Kovo (1824-1907), chief rabbi, Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Thessaloniki; son of Rabbi Chananya Kovo, who too was among scholars of Thessaloniki, and descendant of a famous rabbinic family from Greece. His book, Kochav Ya’akov (Thessaloniki, 1915) is the last responsa book by rabbis of Thessaloniki which was printed in the city.
