Opening: $400
Unsold
Letter (approx. 8 lines) handwritten and signed by R. Shlomo Tzvi HaKohen Strasser Rabbi of Debrecen, addressed to R. Fishel Sussman Sofer, Orthodox rabbi of Budapest. [Debrecen, 1940].
Written at the foot of a (printed) letter from the Central Bureau of the Autonomous Orthodox Jewish Communities, cautioning that small mezuzot, which up until now had been supplied from Poland, were still being sold even though war was raging there. Since the soferim in Hungary are not capable of producing such small mezuzot, they are likely forged.
R. Shlomo Tzvi HaKohen Strasser added in his handwriting that he agrees to the publicizing of his signature on these cautions.
R. Shlomo Tzvi HaKohen Strasser (1863-1953), grandson of the Ktav Sofer, rabbi in several Hungarian cities, including Debrecen.
