Letter by Rabbi Neta HaLevi Lifshitz of Kovne, to Rabbi Eliezer Gordon Head of Telz Yeshiva. 27th of Shevat 1910, [the letter was written a week before Rabbi Eliezer Gordon's sudden death on the 4th of Adar 1910].
The letter is handwritten and signed twice N.H.L. [Neta HaLevi Lifshitz – his pseudonym in the newspapers]. The letter's content deals with a shidduch (match) for Rabbi Eliezer Gordon's son [a letter of Eliyahu Sha'ar of Kiselin who was involved in the shidduch is also copied in the letter].
Other matters for the benefit of Judaism and the yeshivot are also mentioned. An interesting detail written in the letter is the involvement of the Chafetz Chaim in the economic crisis that hit the Lithuanian yeshivot at that time and this is what he writes: "… and finally, what will become of the traveling and efforts abroad to benefit the holy yeshivot? The Chafetz Chaim too, agrees that even if he will travel with you to a rabbi who is not well known, but with your influence they will act…". Additional details about the initiative to unite collections for the yeshivot are mentioned with the name "Rabbi Refael" [Rabbi Refael Shapiro of Volozhin] "his son in law in Shadeve" [Rabbi Yosef Leib Bloch] and "Rabbi Shimon of Braynsk" [Rabbi Shimon Shkop].
