A letter by David Remez, one of the leaders of the Jewish Yishuv in Palestine, a signatory of the Scroll of Independence and a minister in the first Israeli governments. The letter, written when Remez served as the Minister of Transport of the provisional government, deals with printing Israeli postage stamps: "I wish to thank you for your letter […] accompanied by the samples of stamps made by the American Bank Note Company. During my short stay in Switzerland, I paid special attention to this matter of printing stamps […] I received the agreement of the stamp printing department of the Swiss postal service to have a young man of ours work in their department for six months or a year and learn the work in its entirety. I hope that after a certain period of training and purchasing the required machines, we will take our place in the East as distinct stamp printers" (Hebrew). Hand-signed by Remez.
[1] leaf, 28 cm. Good condition. Stains. Fold lines and minor creases. Filing holes. Several tears to margins; one open tear (not affecting text).
