The legend of the wandering Jew, 12 plates with illustrations by Gustave Doré. Cassel Petter & Galpin Publications, London-Paris-New-York, [1873]. Black and white illustrations. Each one includes a stereotypical image of a Jew.
Bound together with five additional anti-Semitic wood-prints, with the image of the “wandering Jew”, hand-painted.
4 of the additional prints are from the "Le Juif-Errant" [the wandering Jew] series, by the artist François Georgin, c. 1860, alongside stanzas of poems in French.
An additional wood-print bearing the title "Das wahre porttat des ewigen Juden" [the proper portrait of the wandering Jew] appears alongside a poem in German.
Book – 55.5 cm., prints – average of 42X33 cm., one print 63X42 cm. Good condition, foxing on book pages.
