Igeret orhot Olam by Abraham ben Mordechai Farissol. With the compositions: Igeret Teiman, called Petach Tikva, by rabbi Moshe ben Maimon; Yesod Moreh Vesod Torah, by Avraham Even Ezra. Prague, [1793]."Igeret Orhot Olam" is the first Hebrew composition dealing with a general description of the globe, its division into climate zones, continents and states. The second part focuses on explorations by Spanish and Portuguese explorers, and describes in detail how Vasco de Gama went to India through the Cape of Good Hope. One of the chapters is dedicated to America and describes the country and its inhabitants. This is the first Hebrew book with a description of America. Three engravings within the text. [4] 96 leaves. Supposed to be: [8], 96, [2] leaves (title page, three leaves in the beginning of the book and two leaves at the end are missing), 16.5 cm. Approbations leaf is bound out of place. Good-fair condition. Binding partly detached. Stains. Restored tears to first leaves. Ancient signatures and inscriptions.
