Passover Haggadah. "BaTelem" [1936].
Non-traditional Haggadah. Handwritten in pencil and carbon paper.
Kibbutz Ein-Gev was established in 1937. 50 members of "BaTelem" group of "HeChlutz" and "HaBonim" movements in Germany who joined in 1935 about 100 members of "Nezach" [No'ar Zofi Chalutzi] from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia and Austria. Prior to settling in Ein-Gev they stayed temporarily in Kineret farm. In 1937 the first Haggadah of Kibbutz Ein- Gev was produced (by copying the handwritten text), still during the stay in Kineret farm, under the title "Passover Haggadah, BaTelem, Kineret farm, 1937".
The Haggadah presented here preceded this Haggadah and it was probably used as a draft which was duplicated for the group members. On the cover appears a handwritten comment "published in Bitania Kineret, PIKA farm, BaTelem - Ein-Gev". The relation to Bitania is not clear. The text is interesting and includes a variation of "Ma Nishtana", a review about the Jews of Russia, Poland, Romania, Germany and other countries, a song by Ya'akov Orland, and additional texts. [7] leaves, 29.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Tears, folding-marks, stains. Third leaf is a copy, all other leaves in pencil.
