A handwritten note, composed in a hiding place in Wadowice Ghetto (South Poland), Purim, February 1945.
The note reads: "Purim 1945, here in the Wadowice bunker", and continues with linguistic riddles based on the names of the people hiding in the bunker (Roth, Schwartz, Reisman), wishes for a Happy Purim and hopes for a miracle and the termination of war.
According to information in the "Center for Heritage of Polish Jews", only ten Jews succeeded to hide and survive the war in the city of Wadowice. All other Jews were hiding in neighboring cities or were deported to Auschwitz when the Ghetto was liquidated in August 1943. 14.5X19.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Folding-marks. Minor tears.
