Hamsa pendant, pierced, with precious stone. Aurès and Kabylia regions, Algeria, [late 19th / early 20th century].
Silver, cast, pierced, punched, and engraved; gemstone.
Geometric patterns. Red gemstone set at base of "hand." Base surmounted by cuff surmounted in turn by suspension ring. Symmetrical clover-like ornaments, two on either side, project from outer edges of hamsa. Unusually long middle finger, with ring-like ornament at tip.
16.5X10 cm. Precious stone ornaments missing at tip and base of hamsa middle finger.
