75 plates with prints of good quality, of photographs from the journey of the ship Tirolia to Palestine, between August 15 and September 4, 1903.
Among the photographs: the ship departs Trieste, passengers and an orchestra on the deck, panorama of Jerusalem from the direction of Mount of Olives (double plate), beginning of the construction of Dormition Abbey, photograph of the crypt in Dormition Abbey, passengers dressed in traditional Bedouin clothes, and more.
The ship Tirolia was launched when European tourism to the Near East flourished, and offered an outstandingly luxurious tourism package: a crew of 92 members, guides, orchestra, and a professional team of photographers.
Total of 75 plates. 19.5X15.5 cm. Folder: 34X25 cm. Good condition. Slight creases and tears at margins of some of the plates. Some damages to margins of folder.
