Torah Mantle. [Morocco, 1954].
Velvet, golden thread embroidery on cardboard.
Decorated with two Menorahs, two cocks, two lions and two Hamsas, with geometric and vegetal ornamentations that adorn the front of the mantle. On the reverse - the Dome of the Rock is depicted topped with an embroidery of a Torah Crown. On the lower part - Tablets of the Law with the Ten Commandments embroidered within. An embroidered dedication on upper part and on margins of the mantle: "Me'il Sefer Torah… Minriam Lankri / Bat Shalom…". Two openings for Atzei Haim (Handles of Torah Scroll) on upper part of mantle.
Height: approx. 68 cm, diameter: 30 cm. Fair condition. Worn velvet, torn and lacking in some places. Unraveled embroidered decorations. Tears at margins and where the front sheet is attached to the back sheet.
