Dealing with the Lavon affair, known as the "Unfortunate Affair". At the time of writing this letter Ben-Gurion was appointedMinister of Defense, in place of Pinchas Lavon, who resigned. Ben-Gurion writes to Sharet, "As for Pinchas Lavon, I continue treating him as a friend." The Olshan-Dori committee that investigated the Lavon affair is also mentioned in the letter and so is the "Senior Officer" [Binyamin Gibli - Head of Military Intelligence], about whom Ben-Gurion writes that he has decided to move him to a different role.
