Kaniuk, known mainly for the books that he authored, studied painting in the "studia" of Streichman and Steimatzky, in "New Bezalel" (in the years 1949-1950) – in the department of Applied Graphics, and for one year in "Beaux-Arts" in Paris (being encouraged by Mordechai Ardon).
