On leaf preceding title page, inscription by Rabbi Eliyahu Dessler author of Michtav M'Eliyahu, to his closest disciple Shalom [Ulman]: “To my dear and beloved rabbi Shalom. E. E. [=Eliyahu Eliezer]. Chanukah 1953, Bnei Brak”.
Ga’on righteous Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Dessler (1892-1954), educated in Kelm Yeshiva, son-in-law of Nachum Ze'ev Ziv of Kelm. Arrived in England in 1927 and served in rabbinate of Dellstone in London. Among founders of Gateshead Kollel and established Torah institutes throughout England. In his later years served as Mashgiach of Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak. His profound discussions based on ethics, Kabbalah and Chassidism were printed by his disciples in the book Sichot U'Ma'amarim, in the five volumes of Michtav Me'Eliyahu and in Sefer Zikaron Michtav Me'Eliyahu.
