1. A Camera Crusade Through the Holy Land, by Dwight L. Elmendorf. New-York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1912. English. First edition.
A description of the journey of the American photographer Dwight Lathrop Elmendorf to Palestine in 1901, with a hundred of photographic plates and a map detailing his travels.
The photographic plates depict various sights from Palestine: landscapes and sites, including churches, mosques and synagogues; Arab, Jewish and Bedouin residents; and more. Alongside each plate there is a page with the title of the photograph, verses and references to verses of the bible and the New Testament.
XIV, 56 pp + [100] plates, approx. 24cm. Good condition. Ex-library copy (bookplate, stamps and handwriting on the front and back endpapers. A paper pocket on the inside of the back binding. Handwriting on the spine). Minor tears along the connection between the endpaper and the front binding. Minor blemishes to spine.
2. En Terre Sainte [In the Holy Land], by Thérèse Vianzone. Paris: Plon-Nourrit, 1903. French.
Description of the journey of Thérèse Vianzone to Palestine. The book contains six plates; pictures of the governor of Tiberias and the bishop of Acre, pictures of Jerusalem from various directions, and more.
[3] leaves, 281, [1] pp. + [6] plates, approx. 18.5cm. Bound in a new binding with the original front cover. Missing back cover. Good condition. A few stains. Tears and open tears at the edges of several leaves. Creases in the corners of the leaves and the original cover.
