At the top of the title page, dedication as wedding gift to R. Menachem Grünwald (a student in the Pressburg yeshiva), handwritten and signed by R. Yitzchak Leib Sofer son of the Ktav Sofer. Pressburg, Iyar 1870. Recipient's stamp on leaf [2].


R. Yitzchak Yehuda Leib Sofer of Drohobych (1848-1907), author of Sofer Mahir. Son of the Ktav Sofer. Assisted his father in running the yeshiva in Pressburg, and later moved to Drohobych, where he became a leader of Orthodox Jewry and president of Machzikei HaDat in Galicia.
The recipient, R. Menachem Grünwald Rabbi of Sopron (Ödenburg in German; ca. 1844 – 1929), disciple of the Ktav Sofer. Dayan in Pressburg and later rabbi of Sopron, a position he held for over fifty years.
