Small Torah shield. Unknown location [Jerusalem? Iran-Iraq?], dedication from 1861.
Silver, sawn, repousée and engraved; blue gem stone.
Rectangular shield with a dome on top. Hebrew inscription engraved on top: "donated by Hachnasat Orchim Society in 1861". Beneath it are the inscription "Torah Crown" (Hebrew), Tablets of the Law (engraved) and a crown-like decoration. A blue gem stone is set above the Tablets of the Law. Geometric decorations and two flower vases with leaves and flowers are engraved on the left and on the right side. A Star of David appears on top of the shield (it is possible that it was added at a later date). Suspension chain.
Length: 16 cm, width: 11.5 cm. Good condition. Two pinholes (missing gemstones?) on the sides and a blocked pinhole in the center. Some soldering repairs, old. Stains.
