Three pictures of Rabbi Natan Tzvi Finkel, the “Grandfather of Slabodka”.
1. Walking with his walking stick in a tree orchard.
2. A passport picture.
3. Sitting on a chair, surrounded by his disciples, dated from the time of his last sickness during his stay at a hotel in Jerusalem [see another picture of the same scene, in “Kedem” catalogue, auction 6, item 298].
Rabbi Natan Tzvi Finkel, the Grandfather of Slabodka (1849-1927), founder of Knesset Israel Yeshiva of Slabodka, was among the heads of the Mussar Movement in Eastern Europe, and one of its great thinkers. One of the leading Rashei Yeshiva in Lithuania and Eretz Israel at the end of the 19th and beginning of 20th century.
