A comprehensive study about Palestine and its history, according to the Old and New Testament, by the English clergyman, historian and author Thomas Fuller (1608-1661). Accompanied by 29 engraved plates: twenty eight double engravings - maps of Palestine, Jerusalem and the territories of the tribes, sketches of the Temple and more; and one engraving at the beginning of the book. One engraving is missing.
[1] leaf (illustrated title page), [8], 434, [1] (more than 434 pp, faulty pagination), 202, [17] pp. [29] plates (one missing). 33 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and creases. Defects to margins of last leaves. Handwritten inscription on a number of pages. Title engraving, title page and some of the engravings are detached and apparently were replaced by engravings from other copies. Some engravings in fair condition, with dark margins, tears and open tears at margins. Open tears (repaired) in two engravings. Original leather binding, with defects and wear. Front binding partly detached.
Enclosed: double-spread (pp. 313-316), the map Ierusalem Qualis (Ut Plurimum) Extitit Aetate Solomonis and three paper clippings (from title page and title engraving) from another copy.
