Opening: $100
Sold for: $1,750

A telegram that was sent to the general management of the "Anglo-Palestine" bank, on August 5, 1948. English.
The telegram describes the process of printing the first banknotes of the State of Israel and their arrival in Israel. The banknotes were printed when it was still uncertain whether an independent state will indeed be established and what its name will be and therefore, they were printed without indicting the name "Israel". Presumably, the telegram was sent by a representative of the bank who was abroad at the time.
16.5X18.5 cm. Fair condition. Torn filing holes and several additional small tears. Creases. Stamps and ink smudges.
Provenance: The Rimon Family Collection.
