Shenot Eliyahu, Mishnayot Seder Zera’im, with explanations by the Vilna Gaon. Lemberg (Lvov), 1799. First edition.
Ancient ownership signature in tiny handwriting: “Chaim ben Rabbi Ya’akov”.
This edition was printed by Rabbi Moshe of Pinsk, son-in-law of the Vilna Gaon. Printed on the reverse side of the title page are approbations and a warning by the Vilna Beit Din prohibiting printing anything by the Vilna Gaon without permission, “That no one shall hear or believe anything said in the name of the Gaon, the Chassid…until it is explicitly clear that the letters are written by the Vilna Gaon… and surely never print anything in the name of the Gaon until it is clear…”.
