Various letters from the Ga'on Rabbi Mordechai Gifter. Rosh Telshe Yeshivah, Cleveland, Ohio.
Two letters are in biblical matters. In letter sent on 1965 to Rabbis of Ponevezh Yeshivah recommending his disciple "…who left his home in Cleveland to a venue of biblical studies…".
Rabbi Mordechai Gifter (1915-2005), born in the USA, went to study in Lithuanian Yeshivot. After the holocaust revived the glory of Telshe Yeshivah in the USA and endowed concepts of greatness concerning biblical study and leadership. [He forbade engraving titles of honor on his tombstone except for: "…Rabbi Mordechai Gifter… instructed disciples of great piety"]. His authority was recognized throughout the religious Jewish world and was one of "Moe'etzet Gedoley Ha-Torah".
