Unsold
"Jewish Artists Association, members' gift" (Hebrew). Published by the "Bezalel School, Jerusalem" [ca. 1926].
An album handed out as a gift to members of the "Jewish Artists Association", containing eight stencil prints by Shmuel Ben-David and Meir Gur-Arie, and photographic reproductions of various works (including the sculpture "Mattathias the Hasmonean" and the bronze plaque "Midnight", both by Boris Schatz).
The prints and photographs are mounted on brown paper and inserted in a black paper wrapper (also stencil-printed).
The "Jewish Artists Association" was founded in 1920. Its first board members included Shmuel Ben-David, Meir Gur-Arie, Abraham Melnikoff and Abel Pann. In the years 1921-1928 the association held a number of exhibitions; all except one were held at the Tower of David. During the 1930s the association's activities ceased, and in 1934 it was replaced by the "Painters and Sculptors Association".
[12] leaves, 22X30 cm (print size varies). Filing holes to each leaf and to wrapper (for binding with a string). Good condition. Damage to wrapper. Inserted in a box.
Provenance: Willy Lindwer collection.
